PURPOSE:
To approve the appropriation (Amount not to exceed) $728,000 from District 3 CARES Fund from POETA Account # 105424.63258.521209.01.03.602313 to support Rent, Mortgage, Utilities, Food, Testing and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assistance for those impacted by COVID-19.
NEED/IMPACT:
The funds are being appropriated to help the many families within District 3 that have experienced job loss, reduced wages and require emergency assistance during the pandemic. The funding will be provided to Community Based Organizations (CBO) to help sustain the families during this difficult period. DeKalb County Community Development will have oversight for the program management, administering and monitoring of the funds to the appropriate agencies.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The funding will come from District 3 CARES Fund from POETA Account # 105424.63258.521209.01.03. and appropriated to the following agencies:
o Latino Community Fund - $25,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)
o Latin American Association - $25,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)
o Atlanta Legal Aide - $48,000 (Evictions, Legal Counsel and Advice)
o Center for Pan Asian Community (CPACS) - $25,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)
o Atlanta Masjid Inc. - $50,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)
o Oak Hurst Medical Center - $50,000 (Personal Protective Equipment & Testing)
o New Life Community Ministries, Inc. - $90,000 - (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)
o Greater Piney Grove Community Development Inc. - $25,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)
o DeKalb County Branch of the NAACP - $25,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)
o MedShare International, Inc. - $50,000(Personal Protective Equipment)
o Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless - $100,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)
o The Hank Stewart Foundation - $40,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)
o Tabitha’s House - $75,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)
o First African Community Development Corporation - $50,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)
o DeKalb County Chapter of the 100 Black Men of America - $50,000 (Rent, Utilities, Mortgage and Food)
