PURPOSE:
Pursuant to O.C.G.A. Sec. 20-5-42(a) and the Constitution and Bylaws the DeKalb County Library System, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners may appoint up to eight (8) member from the public at-large.
Ms. Sara Fountain is being reappointment to the DeKalb County Public Library Board of Trustees as a member from the public-at-large by the Board of Commission. This is a four (4) year term to run from January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2024.
NEED/IMPACT:
The operation of the DeKalb County Public Library is legally vested in the Board of Trustees under the provision of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, Title 20, Chapter 5, Article 40. Per the Constitution and By-Laws of the DeKalb County Public Library eight (8) county appointees from the public at-large serve on the Board of Trustees along with (2) two municipal appointees, the CEO and the Executive Assistant to the CEO. Appointees typically serve four (4) year terms and can be reappointed for a total of three (3) consecutive terms.
Ms. Sara Fountain is an avid library user and supporter. She has served the past year as Chair of the Board of Trustees and is very well-versed in the activities of the library system. Her track record as the former Executive Director of Leadership DeKalb, her deep knowledge of DeKalb County and her longstanding commitment to community advocacy and quality of life issues have helped to ensure that she is an effective Trustee.

To confirm the reappointment of Ms. Sara Fountain to the DeKalb County Public Library Board of Trustees for a term to expire on December 31, 2024.
