PURPOSE:
The Braves Foundation has agreed to partner with DeKalb County Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs to make major renovations to convert Fields #4 and #7 from natural turf to artificial athletic turf. This gift will also be used to incorporate adequate drainage, fencing and other appropriate site improvements. The Department is seeking authorization to partner with the Braves Foundation and to receive the donation of $1,500,000.00 to make capital improvements to Gresham Park Athletic Complex. The Braves Foundation, in partnership with the Department, is committed to improving and enhancing the fields at Gresham Park and encouraging youth to play baseball.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Braves Foundation, in partnership with the Department and the Gresham Park Youth Athletic Association, will improve Fields #4 and #7. With this donation, the Department is committed to improving the other facilities in the complex. These improvements will provide an immediate impact on 450 little league baseball players, more than 200 football players and approximately 100 cheerleaders that participate in the Gresham Park Youth Athletic Association.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The acceptance of this donation will increase the capital outlay for the Department by the amount of the grant, $1,500,000.00.
