PURPOSE:
To appropriate District 7 reserves for the establishment of a youth farm and country store for youth and residents in DeKalb County.
NEED/IMPACT:
The $23,000 appropriation to the Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Affairs Department will be used to establish a youth farm and country store for residents in DeKalb County, which includes the cost of land restoration, cost for repair and renovation of building structure(s), cost to build country store and restaurant, purchase and installation of a professional greenhouse, cost to purchase and install an industrial honey bee farm, and cost to purchase and erect a roadside historic marker. Youth participants will learn farming and food cultivation, receive entrepreneurial training, as well as develop holistic life skills. The youth farm and country store will also be a tourist attraction for residents in DeKalb County and visitors from across the state and country, creating an interconnected campus of buildings and fields that provide experiences related to farming, food preparation, recreation, physical exercise and a connection to nature.

Increase appropriations for the following accounts by the amounts indicated below:

Decrease appropriations for the following account by the amount indicated below:
