PURPOSE:
To consider accepting additional grant funds in the amount of $154,782.98 from the Atlanta Regional Commission with the required match of $18,559.72 for senior services for the period of July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021 and to appropriate the funds to the grant fund.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Human Services' Office of Aging has provided services to DeKalb seniors as the designated County Based Agency for almost 18 years. The DeKalb Board of Commissioners approved the original contract from the Atlanta Regional Commission for senior services on May 26, 2020 in the amount of $2,100, 586.28 with a required match from the County of $133,510.72.
In December 2020, Human Services received notification of an increase in the grant award of $154,782.98 with an additional required match of $18,559.72 which will be taken from project/award number 100453/602152. If approved, the new cumulative contract dollar amount for SFY21 will be $2,407,439.46. The Atlanta Regional Commission routinely provides designated County Based agencies with amendments to contracts due to budget changes in the allocation that the Atlanta Regional Commission receives from Georgia Department of Human Services.
Services provided under this contract include transportation, case management, congregate meals, home delivered meals, personal care, homemaker services, respite care services, adult day vouchers and transportation vouchers. It is estimate that the Department will be able to serve 112 additional seniors as a result of this increase in funding.
