PURPOSE:

Pursuant to 13A of the Organizational Act where “The chief executive shall nominate a person,” CEO Thurmond is nominating Irvin J. Johnson for appointment to the DeKalb Regional Land Bank Authority Board. This is a (2) year term which begins upon confirmation and expires on March 31, 2023.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The purpose and intent of the DeKalb Regional Land Bank Authority Board is to exercise the powers, duties, functions, and responsibilities of a land bank under the Land Bank Act consistent with the recently approved Intergovernmental Agreement between DeKalb County and the City of Lithonia, including but not limited to , the power, privilege, and authority to acquire, manage , and dispose of interests in Real Property. Additionally, to do all other things necessary or convenient to implement the purposes, objectives, and provisions of the Land Bank Act and the purposes, objectives, and powers delegated to a land bank under other laws or executive orders.

 

Irvin J. Johnson currently serves as the DeKalb County Tax Commissioner and understands the importance of having a Land Bank Authority Board and his appointment would be beneficial to this Board.
