NEED/IMPACT:

The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council awarded DeKalb County Juvenile Court funding for the INSPIRE Family Treatment Court.  It is a 18-24-month comprehensive program that will utilize a team approach to working with adults with children in Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) custody and struggling with drug and/or alcohol addiction.  Participants will engage in intensive long-term treatment in conjunction with individual and group therapy, accountability through frequent court appearances, observed random drug screenings, and community-based support. The goal is to ensure that their children can live safely in their home, reduce the likelihood of relapse, empower parents to successfully address their needs as well as the needs of their child(ren), and build a foundation for a healthy family environment free from addiction.

The grant award will fund drug treatment, surveillance officer, drug testing, training for staff, and Marta transportation.

The grant period is July 1, 2021-June 30, 2022.  The amount to be received from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council is $39,476. The award requires a 10% match in the amount of $4,386.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The award will provide additional funding and resources to Juvenile Court’s overall grant budget. The grant award requires a cash match of $4,386, which will come from the Juvenile Court’s operating budget.
