PURPOSE:
To consider entering into an agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for funding yearly roadway lighting energy and maintenance costs for upgraded lighting at the I-285/I-20 interchange; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute the necessary documents pertaining to this project.
NEED/IMPACT:
As part of GDOT’s planned reconstruction of the I-285/I-20 interchange (PI # 0013915), GDOT has approved capital funding to modify and upgrade the existing high mast interstate lighting. After GDOT’s initial capital investment, DeKalb County would be required to fund yearly electricity and maintenance costs for the roadway lighting.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There will be no cost to the county for installation. Annual electricity and maintenance costs cannot be determined until GDOT finalizes the lighting layout for the project.
