PURPOSE:
Pursuant to Section 13.5.3 of the DeKalb County Code, the chief executive officer shall nominate individuals to serve of the DeKalb County Historic Preservation Commission for confirmation by the board of commissioners as provided in Section 13A of the DeKalb County Organization Act. CEO Thurmond nominates Mrs. Olivia Hallquist for appointment to the DeKalb County Historic Preservation Commission. This is a three (3) year term which will begin upon confirmation and expires June 30, 2024.
NEED/IMPACT:
The purpose and intent of the DeKalb County Historic Preservation Commission is to establish a uniform procedure for use in providing for the protection, enhancement, perpetuation, and use of places, districts, sites, buildings, structures, objects, landscape features and works of art having special historical, cultural or aesthetic interest, or value. Mrs. Olivia Hallquist is a registered architect specializing in historic preservation. She is a member of the Kirkwood Neighborhood Association, in which she serves on the zoning committee. Her appointment to the commission will be an asset to the county and those who rely on the services provided through the DeKalb County Historic Preservation Commission.
