CO - Change Order No. 1 to Contract No. 1234856 Norris Reserve Sewer Force Main Reroute: for use by the Department of Watershed Management (DWM). This contract consists of a time sensitive wastewater force main relocation in furtherance of an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between DeKalb County and Gwinnett County. This request is to increase the contract term through June 30, 2022. Awarded to Garney Companies, Inc. CONTRACT TERM INCREASE ONLY.

PURPOSE:
Awarded by the BOC on December 8, 2020 for an amount not to exceed $2,667,722.56. This contract is part of DeKalb County's IGA with Gwinnett County in which all DeKalb County sewer flows currently discharging to Gwinnett County will be rerouted back to the DeKalb County sewer system. During the construction phase of this project, the following unforeseen conditions occurred: existing 24-inch force main that was needed for dewatering required more equipment; GDOT permit needed to be renewed; additional coordination with Gwinnett County was required for cutting and plugging the force main in their jurisdiction; and the installation method was revised. Increasing the contract term will allow for the completion of the work and the prevention of additional fees payable to Gwinnett County for DeKalb County sewage treatment.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
Recommend approval of Change Order No. 1 with:
Garney Companies, Inc., 5895 Shiloh Road, Suite 114, Alpharetta, GA 30005
and authorized the Chief Executive Officer to execute the change order and all associated documents.
