PURPOSE:

To consider approving an agreement with the City of Doraville in an amount not to exceed $220,000. CDBG -HUD funding will be used for the installation of 970 linear feet of a new 4-foot-wide sidewalk on Aztec Road.  Work will include tree removal, grading, sidewalk construction, sidewalk repair and removal and replacement of existing curb.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

This purpose of this project is to provide pedestrian safety by the completion of sidewalk on a portion of Aztec Road which is in the City limits of Doraville.  The portion of Aztec Road is just south of Sequoyah Middle School and Reynolds Elementary School, near the intersections of Aztec Road, Santa Fe Trail and Arbor Creek Lane. Due to the close proximity of schools in the area, the sidewalk is needed for student and pedestrian safety.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

No Fiscal Impact to the County.

Recommended Action

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents for a contract with the City of Doraville in an amount not to exceed $220,000. Funding will be used for the installation of 970 linear feet of a new 4-foot-wide sidewalk on Aztec Road.
