PURPOSE:

To consider approving an agreement with Friends of Disabled Adults and Children, Too! Inc. (FODAC) in an amount not to exceed $172,000 in CDBG-CV funding. The CDBG-CV funds will leverage $138,758 in funding procured by the agency and shall not exceed $172,000. Funding will be used to complete renovation work at the facility at 4900 Lewis Rd. Tucker, GA. 30083.  Renovation will include but not be limited to, removing existing fencing, installation of new fencing, gravel removal, re-pavement of parking lot and re-stripping; installation of two new light poles; and relocate fire hydrant.

NEED/IMPACT:

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Friends of Disabled Adults and Children Too! Inc. (FODAC) has recognized a critical need to restructure their parking and loading areas as FEMA and other response partners are continuing to call on them to manage the warehousing and re-distribution of large corporate donations of medical supplies and equipment.   In the last 18 months, FODAC has shipped almost 3 million masks and over 1 million other items of sanitizer and critical respiratory equipment and supplies to hospitals, clinical facilities, temporary overflow sites, schools, and non-profit organizations.

The need for this renovation is critical as FODAC’s role in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and other disasters. Renovating access to the current loading docks and parking areas will make access and exiting easier and safer for large cargo container trucks.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No Fiscal Impact on the County.
