PURPOSE:
To Appropriate $15,000 from the District 7 Reserve for Appropriation to the MicroLife Institute Design
Studio Project.
NEED/IMPACT:
Student Design teams from the Georgia Tech School of Architecture, led by Ellen Dunham-Jones, will produce
proposals to meet cultural and performance measures for sites along East Memorial Drive in DeKalb County,
GA. At the end of the semester teams will collaborate on producing a publicly available final studio report to
assist DeKalb County Commissioners and the public in retrofitting this and similar sprawling corridors into
high-performance urbanism. MicroLife Institute will support this Design Studio by aiding in logistics and
connect with the community while supporting the initiatives of both GA Tech and DeKalb County. MicroLife
will work on educating and informing the results with the community and local leaders.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Increase appropriations for the following account by the amount indicated below:
Non-Departmental - Unincorporated Fund - Transfer to Grant Fund (09130.611250.272.0000.0000) - $15,000
Decrease appropriations for the following account by the amount indicated below:
Non-Departmental - Unincorporated Fund - Reserve for Appropriation (09130.579002.272.0000.0000) - $15,000
