PURPOSE:
Pursuant to 13A of the Organizational Act, where, “The chief executive shall nominate a person for appointment,” CEO Michael Thurmond is nominating Joseph N. Kusmik for appointment to the DeKalb County Board of Tax Assessors to fulfill the term of John W. Lawson. This term will begin upon confirmation by the Board of Commissioners and will expire On December 31, 2022.
NEED/IMPACT:
The DeKalb County Board of Assessors provides an essential service of assessing the fair market value of property for ad valorem taxation purposes. Mr. Kusmik has over 35 years appraising both residential and commercial real property. He is state licensed and holds a general certification that qualifies him as competent in his knowledge and experience to join the Board of Assessors.
