PURPOSE:

A District 6 appropriation of $4,900 from America Rescue Plan (ARP) grant funds will supplement District 6 community green space improvements designed to build stronger neighborhoods and communities to address health disparities and the social determinants of health. This request is in conjunction with a District 2 ARP request.

•  3 trail cameras + accessories = $750 To set up motion-triggered cameras in strategic areas around the park to learn more about what animals are active and when, and to create wildlife videos for the public.
•  Laser rangefinder = $500 For use in tree education programming, to teach participants how to measure the height and crown spread of trees.
•  Spotting scope + tripod = $1,500 This will be utilized during formal birding walks and informally with park visitors along the boardwalk and in the wetland area. The scope is set up in one place to view wading birds, nests, and other natural wonders.
•  10 Rechargeable lanterns = $750 For use on night walks and campfire programs.
•  10 water quality testing kits = $1,400 These kits are the standard for Georgia Adopt-a-Stream testing - pH, O2, conductivity, and temperature - and will be used with citizens to test water quality monitoring and with Adopt-a-Stream teams.
•  TOTAL = $4,900
