PURPOSE:
To confirm the appointment of the new Ethics Officer Elisa Murphy
NEED/IMPACT:
In compliance with the DeKalb Code of Ethics Section 22A(i)(1),
“There is hereby created as a full-time salaried position an ethics officer for DeKalb County. The ethics officer must be an active member of the Georgia Bar Association in good standing with five (5) years' experience in the practice of law. The ethics officer shall be appointed by a majority of the members of the board of ethics, subject to confirmation by a majority of the commission and approval by the chief executive, for a period not to exceed six (6) years”.
The DeKalb Board of Ethics is requesting confirmation by the Board of Commissioners, of a new Ethics Officer Elisa Murphy, hired by a majority vote of the DeKalb Board of Ethics at their regular board meeting on May 12, 2022.
