PURPOSE:
To appropriate $50,000 from the District 7 Reserve for Appropriation to the Black Man Lab to assist with programming and interventions to prevent youth violence and reinforce positive development for at-risk male youth by providing education, training, civic engagement projects, self-development, professional development, and mentoring through a weekly training program.
NEED/IMPACT:
There has been an increase in violence and crime in many of DeKalb County’s most distressed communities. The Black Man Lab will provide weekly programming and interventions to prevent youth violence and reinforce positive development for at-risk male youth by providing education, training, civic engagement projects, self-development, professional development, and mentoring. The training and weekly programming will reduce the social, economic, and psychological impacts on at-risk male youth and enable them to thrive and flourish in DeKalb County communities.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this allocation of $50,000 is from the District 7 Reserve for Appropriation.

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
