PURPOSE:
To provide funding from District 2 ARP POETA Account 105744.63258.521209.01.02.602479 in the amount of $73,578 for outdoor learning equipment for outdoor classrooms for outdoor learning in grades K-5 grade due to COVID-19.
NEED/IMPACT:
International Community School (ICS) is a nonprofit organization in DeKalb County that serves over 400 elementary aged students. 74% of students come from low-income backgrounds and speak over 25 languages. ICS has incurred significant expense due to COVID-19, straining budget to address learning loss and respond to the public health impact of COVID-19. Funding of the outdoor classrooms would assist with budgetary constraints in the transition to virtual learning over the past year and adapt to new environments that will lessen disruption for students going forward.

Recommended Action
To approve the appropriation of $73,578 to International Community School and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents to support the purchase of the outdoor learning equipment.
