PURPOSE:
To consider appropriating $525,000.00 of SPLOST funds from line item 1J - Corridor Beautification to fund aesthetic improvements to the Glenwood Road, Covington Highway, and Redwing Circle bridges over I-285;
To consider authorizing the payment of up to $525,000.00 to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to cover the cost of these improvements; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents for completion of this work.
NEED/IMPACT:
A GDOT project (PI # 0017129) is underway to replace the Glenwood Road, Covington Highway, and Redwing Circle bridges over I-285. On October 27, 2020, the Board of Commissioners authorized the payment of $370,000 of SPLOST funds to GDOT to add decorative fencing to these bridges. GDOT is now willing to also upgrade the bridge parapets supporting the fencing so that they have a more decorative design similar to what is on the Memorial Drive bridge over I-285. The additional cost for these improvements is $525,000.00.
FISCAL IMPACT:
SPLOST funds in the amount of $525,000.00 will cover the cost of these improvements.

Recommended Action
To appropriate $525,000.00 of SPLOST funds from line item 1J - Corridor Beautification to fund aesthetic improvements to the Glenwood Road, Covington Highway, and Redwing Circle bridges over I-285;
