PURPOSE:
The purpose of this agenda item is to allocate funding to Be Someone, Inc. for the purposes of providing a five-week summer violence prevention chess and leadership training for youth in District 5, with youth ages 6-18 eligible to participate.
NEED/IMPACT:
As the Summer months approach, it is imperative to provide programming for students that will foster positive community interactions and provide necessary life skills training. The five-week program will teach essential life skills to youth through the principles of the game of chess.
