PURPOSE:
To approve an appropriation of $20,000 from the American Rescue Plan grant funds assigned to the account reserved for District 7 to the DeKalb County Police Athletic League to assist with programming and interventions to reinforce positive development for at-risk youth to mitigate the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Coronavirus pandemic has impacted many families in District 7 and throughout DeKalb County who have experienced a loss of income, housing insecurity, as well as a disruption in school and essential services. Public relief is needed to counter the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The DeKalb County Police Athletic League will provide educational and training workshops, mentoring and sports activities to bridge the gap between youth and the DeKalb County Police Department. The program and training will strengthen and enhance relationships with young people in DeKalb communities while also providing mentorship and guidance in a safe environment.
FISCAL IMPACT:
To appropriate an amount not to exceed $20,000 from POETA Account # 105744.63258.521209.01.07.602479 to the DeKalb County Police Athletic League to provide programming for at-risk youth to mitigate the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
