PURPOSE:
To accept the terms of a proposed amendment to the current Medical Director contract for DeKalb County Fire Rescue. The proposed amendment would enable DCFR Medical Director Dr. Michael Carr to act as an advisor to DeKalb County Police Department for the purposes of fulfilling grant requirements pertaining to DKPD taking receipt of a grant-funded supply of the opioid overdose treatment drug Narcan. This amendment requires no additional funding to the current contract for Medical Director services to DCFR.
NEED/IMPACT:
If approved, this amendment to the DCFR Medical Director contract allows DCFR Medical Director Michael Carr to serve as an advisor to DKPD specific to their needs pertaining to receiving the grant-funded supply of Narcan. The Narcan will be distributed to DKPD officers enabling them to perform immediate life-saving interventions by counteracting opioid overdoses that they may encounter.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No cost to county.
