PURPOSE:
To approve an appropriation of $25,000 from the American Rescue Plan grant funds assigned to the account reserved for District 7 to the Rotary Club of Tucker for the purpose of purchasing school supplies and providing rent and mortgage assistance to mitigate the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
NEED/IMPACT:
There is a need to purchase school supplies for families in DeKalb County who are experiencing a financial hardship as a result of COVID-19. Many families need rent and mortgage assistance due to the loss of employment and wages. DeKalb residents have experienced financial distress, the inability to pay rent and mortgages, evictions, and the loss of basic housing security. COVID-19 has exacerbated an environment of anxiety and financial uncertainty for individuals and families in DeKalb communities.
FISCAL IMPACT:
To appropriate an amount not to exceed $25,000 from POETA Account #105744.63258.521209.01.07.602479 to the Rotary Club of Tucker for the purpose of purchasing school supplies and providing rent and mortgage assistance to mitigate the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
