PURPOSE:
To obtain Board of Commissioners approval of the Building Opportunity for Out-of-School Time (BOOST) Grant in the amount of $188,444 to be used by the Recreation Division of the Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs Department for the after-school programs.
NEED/IMPACT:
Georgia Department of Education provided funding to the Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) to establish the Building Opportunities for Out-of-School Time (BOOST) Grant Program. The purpose of BOOST is to expand access and enhance services offered by Dekalb County RPCA Department’s after school program. Targeting youth in grades K-12, BOOST will support the learning acceleration, connectedness, and well-being of DeKalb County’s students by utilizing a whole child approach. The Department proposes to expand access to serve more youth, increase programmatic quality, enhance support services offered, and reduce barriers, such as transportation and enrollment costs. The grant period covers the 2022-2023 school year and has a term from August 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.

RPCA will receive grant funding NTE $188,444
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve and receive the RPCA Department’s Building Opportunities for Out-of-School Time (BOOST) Grant for 2022-2023 in the amount of $188,444; and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
