PURPOSE:
To approve the appropriation of $250,000 from the America Rescue Plan grant funds assigned to the account reserved for District 7 to the Stewart Foundation to provide programming to at-risk youth to include educational and academic workshops, trainings, mentoring, as well as parental empowerment forums to mitigate the public health emergency created by the pandemic.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Coronavirus pandemic has impacted many families in District 7 and throughout DeKalb County who have experienced a loss of income, housing insecurity, as well as a disruption in school and essential services. Public relief is needed to counter the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Stewart Foundation will provide youth programming, workshops, mentoring and parental empowerment forums to support youth and families in DeKalb. Services will reduce the social, economic, and psychological impact of COVID-19 on DeKalb County youth and enable them to thrive and flourish in DeKalb schools and communities.
FISCAL IMPACT:
To appropriate an amount not to exceed $250,000 from POETA Account # 105744.63258.521209.01.07.602479 to the Stewart Foundation to provide programming for at-risk youth to mitigate the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
