REN - Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Purchase, Repair and Maintenance (2nd Renewal of 4 Options to Renew), Contract No. 1218886: for use by Fire Rescue (FR). This contract consists of the purchase, repair, maintenance and management of the County’s SCBA equipment. This request is to ratify an emergency contract term extension as well as exercise the 2nd renewal option. Awarded to Municipal Emergency Services, Inc. (MES). Amount Not To Exceed: $5,234,646.00.

PURPOSE:
Awarded by the BOC on July 14, 2020 for an amount not to exceed $1,443,757.20. On June 22, 2021, the BOC approved the 1st renewal option for an amount not to exceed $1,477,246.70. On July 12, 2022, the BOC approved Change Order No. 1 to extend the contract for two months to allow additional time for the vendor to obtain accurate manufacturer pricing and costs for the mandated equipment; to include the approved FY22 replacement project. This contract consists of the purchase, selection, care, maintenance, flow testing and records management of new and existing Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) equipment. This request is to ratify an emergency contract term extension as well as exercise the 2nd renewal option that will also include full replacement of all current inventory of self-contained breathing apparatuses.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
Recommend approval of the 2nd renewal option through September 30, 2023 with:
Municipal Emergency Services, Inc. (MES), 6701-C Northpark Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28216
Amount Not To Exceed: $5,234,646.00
and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute the change order and all associated documents.
