PURPOSE:
To approve an appropriation of $25,000 from the American Rescue Plan grant funds assigned to the account reserved for District 7 to Frontline Response for the purpose of providing support services and programming for youth to prevent homelessness and sex trafficking to mitigate the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
NEED/IMPACT:
The COVID-19 pandemic has fueled the existing epidemic of homelessness and sex trafficking. COVID-19 has posed high risks for youth and adults experiencing homelessness and sex trafficking. Social and support services have become more limited throughout the pandemic. The economic consequences of the pandemic have put more youth and adults at risk for entering homelessness and becoming susceptible to exploitation and sex trafficking. The number of homelessness and sex trafficking victims served by Frontline Response has doubled in 2022. Frontline Response is working to help end the crisis of homelessness and sex trafficking for new and existing clients to mitigate the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
FISCAL IMPACT:
To appropriate an amount not to exceed $25,000 from POETA Account #105744.63258.521209.01.07.602479 to Frontline Response for the purpose of providing support services and programming for youth to prevent homelessness and sex trafficking to mitigate the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
