PURPOSE:
To consider approving a payment not to exceed $250,000 to resolve a property damage claim filed by Excel Electrical Technologies against Dekalb County CIP OCIP Insurance Policy. On 6/16/21, the electrical circuit room at the Snapfinger WTP incurred significant damage due to water intrusion. This event is a covered loss under the County’s insurance policy. The insurance policy carries a $250,000 deductible. The loss exceeds the deductible amount.
NEED/IMPACT:
Settlement would reduce litigation risk. Operational needs required immediate repair of the damaged facility. Requesting approval to disperse payment of $250,000 to Excel Electrical Technologies for repair services rendered. Insurance proceeds will cover repairs that are in excess of the deductible.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$ 250,000 from funds used to settle lawsuits and claims.
