PURPOSE:

To approve Medicare-retiree group health benefits and rates for new plan year commencing January 1, 2023.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

To ensure the County is offering an affordable and valuable health plan for Medicare-eligible retirees. The plan year for Medicare-eligible retirees expires December 31, 2023. The proposed healthcare costs and plan designs have been reviewed by the ERPS Committee.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Estimated annual cost is $6.5 million.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

Recommended Action

1.                      Approve Aetna’s proposed 2023 Medicare retiree rate of $198.99 PMPM, down from $229.72; with no plan changes.  2. Approve Kaiser Permanente’s proposed 2023 Medicare retiree rate of $193.96 PMPM; no change from the current year 2022 rate; with no plan changes.                     

 

Authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
