PURPOSE:

The funding allocated in this agenda item will establish a funding mechanism to assist Homeowner’s/Community/ Business Associations in the 5th District to create beautification projects and make improvements along corridors throughout the 5th district. The goal of the neighborhood mini- grant program is to enhance the aesthetics and enhance the sense of community and environmental wellness throughout the district.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

According to research, neighborhood beautification programs can build a sense of pride and ownership in a community. In addition, neighborhood beautification programs help to improve the quality of life for residents, with the potential to attract new residents and businesses to the area. This agenda item will designate $20,000 of District 5 Reserve For appropriations account to establish the District 5 Neighborhood Beautification Mini-Grant Program.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Increase appropriations for the following account by the amount indicated below:

Non-Departmental- Unincorporated Fund- Transfer to Grant Fund (09130.611250.272.000.000) - $20,000

 

Decrease appropriations for the following account by the amount indicated below:

Non-Departmental - Unincorporated Fund - Reserve For Appropriation (09130.579002.272.0000.0000) -

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
