NEED/IMPACT:

This action appropriates $10,900,000 to support the following capital projects to expand capacity at Emory Hillandale Hospital to accommodate the anticipated service demand resulting from WellStar AMC’s closure:

Expansion of the Emergency Department waiting room and addition of 15 bays to improve emergency room access - $4,700,000

Renovation of the 2nd floor intensive care unit to improve local care access for higher acuity care - $4,500,000

Replacement of CT scanner to support continued patient care needs - $1,700,000

Additionally, this action appropriates an additional $1,000,000 to establish a pilot violence prevention program, the Hillandale Trauma Recovery Center.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This agenda item appropriates $3,000,000 from the county’s allocation of American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds and $8,900,000 from the county General Fund.

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

To approve appropriation of funding to Emory Healthcare and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
