PURPOSE:

Awarded by the BOC November 9, 2021, for an amount not to exceed $10,682,365.00. This contract consists of removal of existing 2-inch to 6-inch galvanized pipe and asbestos cement watermains; construction and installation of approximately 18,300 linear feet of new 8-inch DIP watermains and approximately 3,600 linear feet of new 16-inch DIP watermains; and removal and replacement of all fire hydrants, valves, service lines and appurtenances. Residential properties have been experiencing failures and service interruptions due to pipelines not performing at the minimum required service levels. The watermain replacements needed under the Shepherds Lane and Woodland Hills Drive Water Main Replacement project (Reindeer Phase II) includes, but is not limited to, replacement of 6-inch asbestos cement pipe with the installation of 18,100 liner feet of 8-inch DIP and 13,300 linear feet of 12-inch DIP. The watermains located within this project site have exceeded their useful life and have experienced over 43 recorded breaks within the last ten (10) years.

In an effort to timely complete repair work currently on the DWM priority list, DWM seeks to continue to utilize the Contractor’s ability to quickly perform the increased scope of work. Additionally, DWM seeks to utilize unexhausted funds (approximately $750,000.00) remaining from the completion of the Reindeer Phase I scope of work.

This substitute is being submitted to revise the recommended award amount.

Recommend approval of Change Order No. 1 with:

Amount Not To Exceed: $15,344,809.70

 

and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute the change order and all associated documents.
