PURPOSE:
To consider approving funding $238,300 for the CSX Transportation, Inc. (CSX) Agreement No. CSX962140 for the S. Stone Mountain Lithonia Road Watermain Replacement Project needed to upgrade the existing 6-inch asbestos cement water mains in the area to 12-inch ductile iron water mains. The upgrades are needed to both eliminate the asbestos cement water mains in the area, which have experienced frequent breaks recently, and to provide the target fire flows for residential homes in the areas supplied by the water main along S. Stone Mountain Lithonia Road.
NEED/IMPACT:
The approval of the agreement will enable the county to construct the new water main within the CSX right-of-way.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The CSX Agreement No. CSX962140 for the Stone Mountain Lithonia Road Watermain Replacement Project shall not exceed $238,300. Funding will come from R&E Funds.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To authorize the payment of $238,300 to CSX for the CSX Agreement No. CSX962140; and to authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents pertaining to the work.
