PURPOSE:

Clarkston Community Health Center (CCHC), founded in May 2013, is a non-profit 501 c(3) clinic that provides a patient-centered medical home for low-income residents in Clarkston and surrounding communities.

This ARP funding is a collaboration effort that will be shared with District 7 to total $250,000 over a 2-year period. This funding will address health disparities and the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 in this community and provide for any other purposes eligible under American Rescue Plan grant requirements.

NEED/IMPACT:

Georgia ranks low for access to services for its citizens, and we have significant disparity in access to health services for our Clarkston/Immigrant/Refugee community. With the closure of Wellstar, leaving a critical overflow to Grady, it is imperative to mitigate resources and care for the un/under insured. Through a mostly volunteer effort, primary and preventive health care, specialty clinics (including vision, dermatology, cardiology, mental health, and more), and free medications from their on-site pharmacy, CCHC seeks to expand their capacity to provide comprehensive, affordable, accessible and comprehensive health care services to those who otherwise have none. By making each patient healthier, CCHC is working to transform the health of our entire community.

This $250,000 over a 2-year period, will help build the capacity of the CCHC team by providing support for service provision more efficiently to eligible individuals in and around Clarkston from around 750 annually to at least 1,250 annually, while also strengthening partnerships to unlock additional pro bono support.

FISCAL IMPACT:

$125,000.00, District 6, POETA Account 105744.63258.521209.01.06.602479, along with a $125,000.00 ARP

appropriation from District 7 to total funding of $250,000.00 over a two-year period.

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

Approve the District 6 and subsequent District 7 ARP appropriations, and the attached proposal which will be used by the Law Department to draft the appropriate contractual paperwork for the CEO to execute.
