PURPOSE:

To consider accepting Fluoride Equipment Grant Reimbursement funds in the amount of $22,809 from the Georgia Rural Water Association as reimbursement for fluoride monitoring equipment purchased by the Department of Watershed Management.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

To support public utilities in proper fluoridation of drinking water, the Georgia Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control funding through GRWA for repair and improvements to fluoridation systems in support of public health.  The Department of Watershed Management purchased two fluoride analyzers to provide continuous monitoring of fluoride in drinking water produced at the Scott Candler Water Treatment Plant.  The department applied and was awarded Fluoride Grant Reimbursement funding from GRWA for the fluoride analyzers to improve monitoring of the drinking water for DeKalb County’s citizens.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is a no required match from the County.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

Accept and appropriate to the grant fund, the Fluoride Equipment Grant Reimbursement funds of $22,809 from the Georgia Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control funding through GRWA; and to authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
