PURPOSE:
To approve the appropriation of $60,000 from the America Rescue Plan grant funds assigned to the account reserved for District 7 to the Latin American Association to provide rent, mortgage, utility, and food assistance to constituents in DeKalb County to mitigate the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
NEED/IMPACT:
DThe $60,000 appropriation will be used to provide rent, utility, and food assistance to constituents in DeKalb County with a focus on the Latino community. There is a need for rent, mortgage, utility and food assistance due to the loss of employment and wages of DeKalb residents impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. DeKalb residents have experienced financial distress, lack of adequate food, the inability to pay utilities, evictions, and the loss of basic housing security.
FISCAL IMPACT:
To appropriate an amount not to exceed $60,000 from POETA Account # 105744.63258.521209.01.07.602479 to the Latin American Association to provide rent, mortgage, utility, and food assistance to DeKalb County constituents to mitigate the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
