PURPOSE:
To adopt a resolution requesting that the Governing Authority of DeKalb County, Georgia provide annual funding to the Clarkston Community Health Center.
NEED/IMPACT:
Clarkston Community Health Center (CCHC), located in Clarkston, Georgia, has a mission to provide a compassionate, welcoming medical home to uninsured and underserved individuals in DeKalb County, Georgia. CCHC is DeKalb County’s only 100% indigent, free health care clinic, serving individuals who do not have health insurance and are living at or below the 200% federal poverty level. Patients come from dozens of countries, including refugees and immigrants, seeking much needed health care they cannot afford, as well as those from the United States. With the closure of Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center, leaving a critical overflow to Grady Hospital, Emory Healthcare, and other hospitals in the Metro-Atlanta area, it is imperative to mitigate resources for CCHC to care for the uninsured and underinsured.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for Fiscal Year 2023 in the amount of $1,518,583 - American Rescue Plan, DeKalb County Tranche 2.
Funding beginning Fiscal Year 2024 in the amount of $1,500,000 - DeKalb County Budget
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
