PURPOSE:
iCare is a 501 ©3 non-profit that provides free transportation for DeKalb County Seniors (ages 55 and older) to medical appointments and grocery stores. Rides are offered through volunteer drivers who use their own vehicles and resources. This agenda item will help to ensure that seniors in District 5 have better access to transportation to and from medical appointments.
NEED/IMPACT:
Many seniors have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and as a result have lost dependents or loved ones who would typically provide this critical service of rides to medical appointments. This allocation will help to ensure that the most vulnerable seniors in District 5 have access to get to their medical appointments without stress or hassle, because of the free services that iCare provides.
