PURPOSE:
Asking board to consider accepting the VOC A grant of $209,849. awarded to the Solicitor’s Office for the purpose of continued funding for the offices Victim-Witness Assistance Program (VWAP). Awarded funds to support the salary and fringe benefits of three (3) Victim-Witness Advocates.
Grant cycle is from October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023.
NEED/IMPACT:
The grant supports our ongoing efforts of providing victim-centered supportive services and resources. allocated funds for trainings/professional development for the advocates. and supplemental funds for supplies strictly related to service provision. This additional funding affords our office the opportunity to expand our hiring ability to reach more victims and try more victim-involved cases.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The award provides the Solicitors Office with much needed supplemental funding to use for victim-centered services. A county match is not required. The match has been included in our annual operating account under Transfer to Grants. No additional asks from the county for funds will be made.
