PURPOSE:

To consider accepting grant award in the amount of $50,000 from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council to support the salary and benefits of one (1) Special Victims Unit Prosecuting Attorney.
Note: Full salary and benefits are covered by this $50,000 grant award plus a 25% county match of $16,667.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

CJCC awarded the Solicitor’s Office FY23 funding to support the salary and benefits of one attorney specifically assigned to cases involving Domestic Violence. With the rise in domestic violence within the county; the need for a specialized team (SVU) that specifically deals with prosecuting DV crimes is imperative.The grant cycle for his award is from January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2023.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

This award provides additional funding to our overall grants budget. A match of $16,667 is required.
