PURPOSE:

To provide grant funding from District 2 ARP POETA Account 105744.63258.521209.01.02.602479 in the amount of $30,000 to Stride Ahead, Inc to provide mental health services through equine therapy for those suffering mental health issues resulting from the pandemic and effects of COVID-19.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

Many citizens suffered undue hardships over the past three years due to medical and mental issues, and social isolation because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Organizations like Stride Ahead, Inc are uniquely qualified to offer citizens alternative therapy methods through equine therapy in 1-hour therapeutic riding sessions, stress-relief, and EAP therapy sessions at DeKalb County’s Little Creek Horse Farm.  This grant will allow Stride Ahead, Inc. to offer this critical therapy to vulnerable citizens at the horse farm.

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

To approve the appropriation of District 2 ARP grant funding in the amount of $30,000 to Stride Ahead, Inc. and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents to support this appropriation.
