PURPOSE:
To approve an appropriation of $30,000 from the American Rescue Plan grant funds assigned to the account reserved for District 7 to the Africa’s Children’s Fund for the purpose of providing rent, mortgage, utility, and food assistance to mitigate the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic that is still ongoing post-COVID.
NEED/IMPACT:
There is a need for rent, mortgage, utility, and food assistance due to the loss of employment and wages of DeKalb County residents impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. DeKalb County residents have experienced
financial distress, the inability to pay utilities, food insecurities, evictions, and the loss of basic housing security. COVID-19 has exacerbated an environment of anxiety and financial uncertainty for individuals and families in DeKalb communities that continues post-COVID.
FISCAL IMPACT:
To appropriate an amount not to exceed $30,000 from POETA Account #105744.63258.521209.01.07.602479 to the Africa’s Children’s Fund for the purpose of providing rent, mortgage, utility, and food assistance to mitigate the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic that is still ongoing post-COVID.

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
