PURPOSE:
To approve the appropriation of $10,000 from the American Rescue Plan grant funds assigned to the account reserved for District 7 to BiPlane Rides Over Atlanta For The PDK Youth Aviation Program to mitigate the negative impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
NEED/IMPACT:
COVID-19 has heavily impacted many families and youth in DeKalb County, many whom have experienced a loss of income, housing insecurity, and a disruption in school and education. The allocation will provide necessary funding to assist BiPlane Rides Over Atlanta with the PDK Youth Aviation Program to mentor underprivileged youth in DeKalb County. The program will educate and train youth about aviation, aircraft mechanics and earn hours towards flight time and instruction, leading to certification. The PDK Youth Aviation Program will help prepare youth for careers in aviation and aircraft mechanics.
FISCAL IMPACT:
To appropriate an amount not to exceed $10,000 from POETA Account # 105744.63258.521209.01.07.602479 to BiPlane Rides Over Atlanta For The PDK Youth Aviation Program to mitigate the negative impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
