Phone Number: 404-3761-4909
PURPOSE:
To amend the Board of Commissioners Standing Procedural Rules from Section VI #6 pertaining to “working group” by deleting the language “in lieu of a committee meeting” so that the Board sub-committee can establish a working group “at the direction of the “Committee Chair.”
NEED/IMPACT:
A committee meeting is defined as a formal gathering of a subgroup within an organization who come together to fulfil a predefined objective. The meetings are a forum for the exchange of ideas so that a committee can complete its set of tasks. A working group is defined as a group of experts working together to achieve specified goals. The groups are domain-specific and focus on discussion or activity around a specific subject area.
Both terminologies share similar common goals to include:
• creation of an informational document
• creation of a standard
• resolution of problems related to a system or network
• continuous improvement
• research
This agenda item seeks to charge the DeKalb County Law Department to amend the current Standing Procedural Rules Section VI #6 by deleting the language “in lieu of committee meetings” so that the Board of Commission can establish working groups “at the direction of the committee chair” which is language consistent in the rest of the rule.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No cost to DeKalb County
RECOMMENDATION:
