PURPOSE:

To approve two (2) amendments to a prior consented agenda item: 2023-0315. This item was initially approved on May 9, 2023, Board of Commissioners meeting. I am requesting to amend: 1. Contract term, from 7/31/2023 to 7/31/2024 to allow one additional year to complete the grant program. 2. Contract amount, from $100,000 to $114,714.

NEED/IMPACT:

The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office (DCMEO) in collaboration the CDC will participate in an interoperability pilot project with the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) overdose and violent death surveillance programs. This grant program works to modernize violent death and overdose data exchange utilizing the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource standard (FHIR). This grant program will enhance the effectiveness of data transmission between DCMEO and DPH. Funding will be provided solely by the CDC to facilitate this interoperability initiative.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal impact to the general fund because there is no match requirement.
