PURPOSE:

To consider approving four sub-recipient appropriations from the $1.5M Department of Justice grant for a Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative for DeKalb approved by the Board of Commissioners on November 15, 2022.  The sub-recipients are four of the County’s nonprofit partners as outlined in the approved agenda item 2022-2374, including Cure Violence Global; Cure Violence Atlanta, Inc.; Emory University; and Georgia State University.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

These partners are critical to the implementation of grant program as outlined in the original grant agreement.  These partner appropriations were identified in the grant budget attached to agenda item 2022-2374 accepted by the Board of Commissioners on November 15, 2022.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

These appropriations are 100% grant funded with no match.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

Authorize the proposed appropriations, totaling $1,047,255, as follows: Cure Violence Global - $200,000 (total for 2023,2024, and 2025); Cure Violence Atlanta, Inc. - $164,613 (total for 2023,2024, and 2025); Emory University - $518,510 (total for 2023,2024, and 2025); and Georgia State University - $164,132 (total for 2023,2024, and 2025)
