PURPOSE:

To consider approving the Public Safety and Community Violence Reduction (PSCVRG) Grant Program; and
To consider accepting $903,317, not to exceed $993,649, from the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget, funding from the State Fiscal Recovery Funds (SFRF) and appropriating that amount to the grant fund for spending in compliance with the grantor’s requirements; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all the necessary documents.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The purpose of this funding is to address violent gun crime and community violence that has increased as a result of COVID-19.  Funding from this award will be used to invest in technology and equipment to allow law enforcement to respond more efficiently and effectively to the rise in gun violence resulting from the pandemic, enabling officers to identify, apprehend, and protect the community.
