Information Contact: Chief Darnell Fullum

Phone Number: (678) 406-7731

PURPOSE:

To donate 2013 and prior surplus SCBA equipment (packs) to various smaller Fire departments throughout the State of Georgia, that were replace with 2022 County Capital Improvement Funds (CIP).

NEED/IMPACT:

In FY22 the County approved CIP funds for the purchase of replacement SCBA’s totaling $4.5M. This equipment was received in FY23 and has created a surplus of equipment that could be donated to smaller Volunteer and full-time staffed Fire Departments with limited resources for purchase. It will also allow them to still meet the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 2013 standards.

The Department is looking to donate approximately 192 packs to the following: Hart County Fire Department, Carnesville Volunteer Fire Department (Franklin County), Royston Fire Department (Franklin County), New Hope Volunteer Fire Department (Stephens County), Carnes Creek Volunteer Fire Department (Stephens County), Big Smith Volunteer Fire Department (Stephens County) and City of Mountain Park Volunteer Fire Department.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no Fiscal impact to the County as this equipment no longer has value.
