PURPOSE:

To support a resolution encouraging the DeKalb County governing body to collaborate with Metro Atlanta
Counties and their Health Departments to support access to abortion health services and resources and match the City of Atlanta's commitment of $300,000.

NEED/IMPACT:

The DeKalb County governing body understands that access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare services,

including abortion, is a fundamental right that must be protected and ensured for all individuals and providing

accessible, safe, and affordable abortion services is essential for promoting public health and the overall wellbeing of all DeKalb County residents.

This resolution supports the essential need for DeKalb County to collaborate with Metro Atlanta Counties and their health Departments to develop strategies and help identify additional financial resources to address the existing gaps in funding and access for abortion services.

The City of Atlanta has committed to donating $300,000 to ARC-Southeast which provides funding and logistical support to ensure Southerners receive safe and compassionate reproductive care including abortion services.

FISCAL IMPACT:

To match the City of Atlanta's donation and commit $300,000 to ARC-Southeast,

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

To adopt the attached resolution that supports collaborative work with Metro Atlanta Counties and their Health Departments, commit to matching the City of Atlanta's $300,000 and authorize the Chief Executive Officer or his designee to execute all necessary documents.
