PURPOSE:
Pursuant to 13A of the Organizational Act where “The chief executive shall nominate a person,” CEO Thurmond is nominating Mr. Robert A. Burroughs for reappointment onto the DeKalb County Board of Assessors. This is a six (6) year term which would begin January 1, 2024 and expire on December 31, 2029.
NEED/IMPACT:
Mr. Burroughs has served the DeKalb County Board of Assessors admirably since January 2006 and as stipulated in O.C.G.A. 48-5-292 (a) can “be reappointed to succeed himself as a member of the board” which he desires. As a practicing attorney in real estate and real estate-based financing at Robert A. Burroughs, P.C., he is well qualified to assist the board with the responsibility of establishing the fair market value of property for ad valorem taxation purposes.

To confirm the reappointment of Mr. Robert A. Burroughs to serve a six-year term on the Board of Tax Assessors ending December 31, 2029.
